Although considered remote by many of our urban neighbours, visitors will be impressed by the high standard of the few shops in the area. While public transport in Donside is limited, Aberdeen is well served by land, sea and air transport - Dyce Airport sees many daily flights to all major cities in the UK.

The Silver Circle
This registered charity operates in the local area to provide support services for older people. It runs a weekly Day Centre that meets in the Lonach Hall and its members enjoy a sociable day with a good subsidised lunch.
Games, craft activities, exercise to music and visiting speakers and entertainers are enjoyed by a group of about twelve members. A willing team of volunteers help the Day Centre Organiser and Assistant Organiser to ensure a good time is had by all in a supported environment.
The Silver Circle also runs a Lunch Club fortnightly during the winter months. They meet in various local hotels and restaurants where people over sixty can enjoy each others company and a subsidised two course lunch.
Hospital Volunteer Drivers Scheme. This is a scheme to provide transport, in a volunteer driver's car, to access medical appointments that may be in Aberdeen or other clinics. The passenger makes a small contribution and the drivers expenses are met through a grant from a Community Transport Initiative that is administered by The Silver Circle.
The Silver Circle contributes to the health and well being of many local residents be they members, volunteers or employees. The organisation enjoys good support from the local community and is now part of life in Upper Donside.
