Beautifully crafted Quaich in Scottish Pewter or Silver and incorporating the ancient Celtic knotwork design. A truly original gift for the bride and groom. Traditionally the 'quaich' originated in the Scottish Highlands and was used both for a cup of welcome and also when offering a farewell drink. Nowadays the quaich has many uses but especially for sharing the world renowned 'water of life' or whisky at special events such as weddings or christenings. Derived from the Gaelic word 'cruach' meaning 'shallow cup' the distinctive design has remained unchanged over the centuries-a shallow drinking bowl with 2 handles, colloquially known as 'lugs'. The tradition is to pass it around all your friends and guests in celebration. Different sizes available on request. |
